Privacy

The short version: no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Your games and saves stay on your iPhone. The app talks to the internet only for the few things below.

On your iPhone

• Your games, saves and hint journals are kept on your device, in the PointyClicky folder you can see in the Files app. We never see them.
• If you show PointyClicky your Downloads folder, it only looks inside when you tap Check Downloads or while a GOG screen is open, and it only copies the files you choose.

What the app sends, and why

• The game list and box art. On launch the app asks our server whether the list of supported games has changed, and fetches any new covers. Nothing about you is sent.
• Hints. When you ask for a hint, the app sends a short description of where you are in that game: the puzzles you've finished and the ones open, the place you're in, what you're carrying and the last few lines of dialogue. Our server passes it to Anthropic's Claude, which writes the hint, under Anthropic's commercial terms, which don't allow it to be used to train their models. Your name, your files and your saves are never sent.
• Proving the app is genuine. Hints use Apple's App Attest, so our server can tell a request comes from a real copy of PointyClicky. It identifies this install of the app, not you. We keep a count of hints per install per day to keep things fair.
• Prices. To show a game's price, the app asks GOG's public price service for your country's price. Only the country is sent.
• Downloads you ask for. A free game you download comes from our server; a game you buy comes from GOG, under GOG's own privacy policy.

Our server

Our server runs on Cloudflare. Like any website it sees your IP address when the app connects; we use it only to limit how fast requests can arrive, and we don't keep it.

Children

PointyClicky collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
